The Simple Things

This picture may look like a simple handle fashioned to raise and lower the sides on our high tunnel, but they represent so much more. They are the culmination of finally accomplishing a task that started last year about this time. I researched and constructed the high tunnel myself but as with most projects there was complications. This one being the roll up sides. First, the sides were blowing off the metal rod on the bottom so we solved that with clips that attach to the metal pole. Then the sides still billowed out so we attached a rope in a zig zag pattern and that stopped the billowing. Finally we struggled to put together a handle. The current design seems to work exceptionally well. I hope for now we can leave the design alone and work on other hopeful simple fixes to a multitude of other farm problems. All the while loving every minute of it!!
