Baby Pigs
One of our Pregnant Tamworth Gilt’s went into labor on Monday, pictures to follow of the piglets. Our other Tamworth Gilt should have her litter any day now and we are bringing in another Gilt for breeding purposes. This new Gilt will be a Berkshire and will be bred with out resident Tamworth boar. The Berkshire will be bred in early winter and we can expect piglets from her next Spring.
In other related news the 50 egg layers we bought in October have been happily living in our new chicken tractor this winter and have started producing eggs. Once they all come up to speed we will have roughly 70 chickens laying eggs. Most of the eggs will be sold off and the manure will be used as fertilizer. More updates as the weekend progresses.
